Built in the 16th century as a Coaching Inn, the Fox and Hounds is a cosy traditional free house with a focus on conditioned ales, a variety of quality wines and spirits whilst also offering home cooked great quality fresh food made with locally sourced ingredients where possible, all at a reasonable price.

The pub boasts a roaring open fire in the main bar area in the colder months.  Lovely sunny gardens front and rear to enjoy during the warmer months.  There is also a summer games room in the rear garden with pool, table tennis, darts and a retro games machine.

We serve top notch breakfasts Fridays and Saturdays 10-12 noon, lovely lunches Mondays to Saturdays 12-2.30pm and also Basket Meals in the evenings on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 5-8pm.  Takeaway is also available during kitchen opening times.

We hold live music, and have live sports showing in 2 rooms and every Wednesday between 5-9pm pints of real ale & large glasses of house wine are discounted and served with a complementary cheese board.

This little gem of a pub hidden away in the sleepy village of Steeple Bumpstead is well worth a visit and if you would like to reserve a table, booking in advance is recommended.
